Favorite Vintage Finds with Primitive and Proper

Hi Friends!

I’m taking a little summer break so over the next couple of weeks, some of my friends will be popping over here to share their favorite vintage finds and how they use them in their homes.  See you soon – Kelly.

Hi all! I am so excited to be hijacking Kelly’s blog for the day. I am Cassie from Primitive & Proper.

I write about my home, DIY, furniture flips, the vintage shop that I own, and a little bit of everything sprinkled in between. Kelly and I share a love of all things vintage and eclectic (I am sure you knew that about her already, based on the name of the blog you are reading), and we are also equally passionate about some of what really matters in life like family, authenticity, originality, and wine.

Since I am here at Eclectically Vintage, I thought it would be fun to take a little tour around my house to show you how I use some of my favorite vintage finds in my eclectic home.

My favorite space in my home currently is my dining room. In this space, I have collected vintage nautical paintings to create a gallery wall. I love it because some of them are connected to memories. The paint by numbers is from the Country Living Fair where I shopped with my best friends and my mom; and the sailboat to the right comes from an estate sale where my mother in law decided to join me for the ride because she was visiting. Additionally, these colors tend to soothe my rather restless soul. (Oh, and do you spy my Lacefieled Marrakesh drapery panels? Kelly and I are #twinning).

The dining room opens right into the kitchen, where I have open shelving. We use the shelving to store every day dishes, but I also load them up with more vintage nautical paintings.

The living room is where I sit on one of my favorite vintage finds. A vendor of ours at Sweet Clover had this vintage blue velvet sofa she had scored at an auction. I was in LOOOOVE with it, and told her if the day comes where you feel you no longer need it, you come to me! She did, and now I happily sit on it in my living room.

In our hall closet turned mudroom, I placed a vintage card display that I recently found on Cape Cod. I filled it with old photos of my kids, and then proceeded to cry at how much they’ve grown.

One of my favorite recent finds was a malachite look mirror I scored at a yard sale. It served as inspiration for my bathroom makeover. I mean, just look at that frame.

We have vintage items scattered everywhere throughout our home. The bedrooms are also victim to my passion for vintage. I am also often swapping items out, simply because I live for the hunt and I can. You only get to live once, so have fun.
In our guest bedroom, my favorite find is a vintage peacock headboard which was actually found for me by my friend, Sarah Dorsey (I love this girl!). I love this space because I can really express my love for bohemian without annoying my husband, who is a little more reserved.

Our own master bedroom is slightly more tame, but one of my favorite pieces in there will always be this vintage dresser which I found and painted a vibrant teal. We have a little bedroom makeover that will be happening this summer, but trust me, this piece will be staying.

My daughter’s room recently received a makeover, with much of her input and creativity. One of the things on her “must have” list was a hanging chair. They are so on trend at the moment, but I really don’t know where she came up with the idea. She is 8 and doesn’t exactly read blogs. We spotted one for sale on a local auction, and went to the auction on her birthday weekend. We waited and waited, and finally, when the chair was up, we jumped. She now sits on it to read and write and dream.

And finally, I wouldn’t leave my son out of the vintage fun. His room is 100% him…. Star Wars & American history inspired. My absolute favorite find in his room is the flag I found at the Country Living Fair. It serves as the focal point of his room.

Thank you so much for allowing me to take you on a favorite things treasure hunt through my home and thank you Kelly for hosting me today.
Cheers! I will drink to that.
