Trimming the Tree and Save on Lights!

Beautiful Christmas tree trimmed in LED Christmas lights

Last year, as I was merrily trimming my tree while humming Christmas carols and sipping eggnog, I may or may not have yelled a few choice words when a few of my light strings didn’t work.

So off to the store I went on a cold, wintry night, only to discover that there were no lights that matched the ones I already had.  What?!

LED lights ruled and I had the old incandescent lights which I believe are going the way of the cassette tape.

Did I make the switch to LED?

Does Santa wear a red suit?

Bonus – I love them!  My Martha Stewart LED lights have a warm white glow … unlike the cool blue from some LED lights.

See!  Yes, I have a tree up already and it’s gorgeous and snowy and fabulous and I can’t wait to show you it in it’s fully decorated glory.

Bonus – extra do good karma points …

  1. So, I need to know what you do to frost your tree and I need to know what a strand of those LED lights cost. Cuz that deal at Home Depot….. I could send in each kid with 5 rows of lights and probably still not turn all mine in. We get a big tree and I like lights.

  2. I love your Christmas decor from last year and pinned a couple of ideas. I must look into the LED warm white lights this year too. I can’t believe you have a tree up already! Looking forward to seeing your home this year. Have a great day!
    Blessings, Pamela

  3. Sounds like a great deal. That is the worst feeling when that happens with lights. I remember 25 years ago on our first Christmas we kept blowing lights on our tree. One after the other and my sister-in-law said to us, How many strands do you have connected together?? We were in our early 20’s and were dumb, anyway she told us, you have too many connected together, LOL!!! We were so embarrassed, too be young!!!

  4. LED’s have changed my world! They are an investment, but so worth it! Guess it’s time to keep up the my favorite blogger and get up in the attic to grab the Christmas stuff. xoxo jules

  5. I am slowly getting rid of all my old lights and switching to LED ones, too. I don’t like the super bright white ones either-but love the soft whites. I have not tried Martha Stewart’s brand yet- xo Diana

  6. Hi which LED lights did you use on your tree? The warm or the soft white? The color of the lights on your tree
looks so nice. Martha Stewart has 2 different colors the warm and the soft….
    Thanks

  7. Before I read what you had to say about it, I was thinking, yeah, but they’re not WARM like the old lights. I’ll have to check hers out. And I have a crap ton of old strings I could turn in. With a five string max, I may have to hit up several stores. LOL
