Let the sun shine in.

What’s not to love about a room with three walls of windows?

Homework, tv time and relaxing – this room serves triple duty.

Zone 1 – Homework

Forget desks.  Take two cheap dining tables (these are from Ikea) and put them together.

Instant “no fighting because each twin has her own space” homework zone.

Text books, loose leaf paper, #2 pencils and highlighters that were once scattered on the floor now have a home.

I searched high and low for shelves for these narrow walls.

Zone 3 – Relaxing

This is my zone!

A big comfy chair and a furry throw, a weathered desk and some shelves to keep the clutter at bay are all I need.

  1. Maybe I would have done better in school if I’d had such a nifty keen place to study like your kids! Yeah, right. OK, still, I love this room!

  2. So bright and organized! I love the fun color choices. When I showed these pictures to my daughter, she begged me to start making some changes to our basement rec room, where she and all her friends hang out, a la the Eclecticaly Vintage Sunroom! Thanks for some much needed inspiration!

  3. I might just have to go back to school so that I can come and do my homework in your awesome space! I love it, Kelly … full of color and function! Must share!

  4. Wow, Kelly!!! This room is so much fun and talk about serving you well! Incredibly functional but so interesting as well! That lamp!?! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I don’t think I would ever leave this room. Incredible job! 😉 Jesse @ Scout & Nimble

  5. This is such an awesome room. I love every detail in here. Love the globe collection. I would have loved to do homework in this space! Don’t be surprised if I visit and suddenly that Brazilian (?) dancer girl lamp is AWOL. That is da bomb!

  6. Love the symetry………….it feels so well balanced and relaxing, LOVE & BLESSINGS TO YOU/YOURS

  7. for a relatively limited amount of space, you totally maximized it’s full potential beautifully Kelly! Love all zones!!!! Practical and perfectly beautiful!

  8. Kelly,

What a great space, it is so bright and inviting. Good way to keep the kids doing their homework. Great color in this room as well.

  9. Oh what a fun sun room! So bright and colorful…just love how your mind works! Jealous of your white dog on the shelf. Is he an antique bank? I really need to give ours an upgrade. My husband calls it the “Kerr cave” because it’s where I keep my canaries, plants and crafting supplies. Love sitting out there on my big over stuffed couch with the sunshine, birds singing, and a stitching project in my hands! It’s painted a soft blue now but? I’ve been tempted to go a creamy yellow. Maybe a trip to Home Depot is in our future. You are always an inspiration Kelly!

  10. I adore this room on every level! I am curious about the black metal (?) painted piece to the left of your desk with the sheet music on top, looks like a bin of some type. I have never seen anything like that, what is it? Or more likely, what was it. 🙂 Thanks Kelly!

  11. Lovely Kelly! The pop of electric blue is gorgeous! I love the little touches of vintage (of course) that you’ll incorporated, makes it feel so warm and cosy.

  12. I absolutely love it – the colors are fabulous and it looks so bright and cheerful! Those leaning shelves look great and I especially love that big basket on the lower shelf – where did you find it? Please keep sharing your home – it’s really inspirational.

  13. Who is the budding flutist in the house? I’m a retired band director and professional flutist. Good to see kids are still practicing!

  14. What a neat space. I have similar leaning shelves that we bought from Lowes a few years ago. Love all the unusual lamps. Thanks for sharing.

  15. Kelly – it is all so awesome! I absolutely love it… such fabulous little touches everywhere that make it unique and custom- I love the leaning shelves, all the globe and the big map… the tables as desks mixed with mod chairs – the little corner for you. You have such an amazing talent for seamlessly blending different eras and styles and making it work together perfectly! Love all the colour!!

  16. I LOVE the yellow chairs. I can’t get enough yellow! I want to find a dresser to turn into a tv cabinet because we need the storage space but my husband doesn’t want to give up our ikea monstrosity. It’s the famous ikea black/brown and 3 pieces and is seriously killing my wanna be beach vibe for the family room.

He is going to be spending 4 months down in California for work this fall. Maybe I can just make him think a vintage yellow cabinet was always there 🙂

  17. Your sunroom looks fabulously funky! Love the bright colors and the little vintage touches (one might say they are eclectically vintage touches). My favorite is the children’s desk chairs. They look comfy, yet fun.

  18. Hey Kelly! I recognize that map. It’s the one that hung in my 5th grade classroom for too many years to count! And the chairs came right out of it, too! Hehe! Maybe I should have been slipping some of that stuff home with me! Joking aside, I LOVE your bright and happy sunroom, and it shines with your originality! Makes me want to turn our screened porch into a sunroom!

  19. I’m a big fan of multipurpose spaces. You’ve done a lovely job of making this room not only functional, but fun and lively (just like you!)

As always, I love your use of color and mix of new with vintage. Great style!

And it goes without saying how much I love Lamps Plus!!

  20. You packed lots of punch into that space with a perfect mix pops of colour and natural light – what I love about the space is how the outside vistas seem to “seamlessly” blend with the inside vintages – you are lucky to have such a canvas to work with. The multi-functions of the space are wonderful too. Well done. 🙂
