One Room, Three Ways – Living Room Style 1

I challenged myself to style one room three ways using things I already own. I shopped my house, rearranged furniture, and reimagined the space to come up with three very different looks on a budget.

You know those houses that are stuck in a time warp?

Like a museum, nothing ever changes.

Paintings leave faded squares on walls because they hang untouched for 20+ years.

So get out of that rut and look at your house with a new eye.

I’m showing you how to create three completely different looks for one room just by …

dragging, rearranging, lugging, hanging, hauling and tweaking (and you don’t have to spend a dime).

Grouped together, flea market finds become fabulous collections …

not the findings of a crazy hoarder.

A favorite find is my antique wallpaper pasting table (yes, I even wrote a poem about it)!

One of my many collections – vintage demijohns – catch the light from the window.

I’m so over that bombe chest and guess what – it’s going on Craig’s List so I can get something I truly love.

  1. Simply great! But where oh where did you get that glassware? My mom had those in the 50s & 60s…I want some!

  2. I don’t think that I’ve ever seen your living room before, Kelly. I love it and look forward to seeing how you change it up! BTW – you gave me some great inspiration for group like objects together to create a “collection”. Can’t believe I’ll be seeing you again in just a few short weeks at Haven!

  3. My first visit to your blog. I love the gallery wall and the mantel. My daughter is moving into a new/old house this year (her third year of college and third room for me to decorate!) and there is a mantel in her room – thinking I will gather up my colored glass to use just like you! Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. Oh how I love your room Kelly!…the collections that you gathered for that wow factor have certainly made a great statement throughout the room…from the mantel to the paper pasting table to the fabulous gallery wall…I spy so many fantastic collections so impeccably arranged!!…Looking forward to the next room…don’t know how you can top this one!

  5. i am in love! love the glassware, the paintings, the colors, and the chic overall vintageness of it all! vintageness is totally a word by the way.

  6. Love everything! But that gallery wall is perfection! The blue pillow looks so pretty next to your collections!

    Can’t wait until tomorrow!

Have a great day rock star!

  7. I love this! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who shops in their attic, or storage building, or wherever! I’m having fun discovering my own style and then looking for the pieces to finish out a look. That’s what I love about all this. It’s knowing what you want and then the thrill of the hunt to find it!

Guess what, Kelly. I’m going to Haven! Yikes! I got a ticket and now I have to figure out the details, but I’m there. Thanks for the encouragement to go!

  8. What a fabulous room Kelly! I love so many elements of it that I can’t even name them all… that wallpaper table, the beautiful vases, the eclectic mix of chairs, the gallery wall (is awesome!!). So excited about this challenge – can’t wait to see what else you talented ladies do. And my wheels are seriously turning now…

  9. I love every single detail in this room. LOVE your hanging light fixtures. What’s the story on those? You should give me some close ups of those, they are so unique! I see mid century dressers for sale out here all the time, you really should just come for a visit. How awesome would one of those look with your Art Deco Lucite lamp that I am coveting, coveting, coveting.

  10. The glass on the fireplace is stunning. The colors are just beautiful! I need someone to come over and rearrange my living room – and maybe even craigslist my giant sectional! It’s hopeless with that beast!

  11. She’s got good bones, your living room does. And you have beautifully furnishings. {I would line up for your couch if I could.} But, it’s with your magic wand that you’ve really created a ‘come in and set yourself down awhile’ ambiance. Your collections, furniture placement and colour scheme all come together effortlessly. Can’t wait to see looks two and three.

  12. I love this and all three ways are totally amazing. How fun. I would love for you to link this up to my 170th Inspire Me Tuesday party that is still ongoing. – -http://www.astrollthrulife.net/2013/06/my-15-frenchy-chair-redone.html Hugs, Marty

  13. Stunning, Kelly! I’m in love with your gorgeous decanters … they pop beautifully against your white mantel and are such a great complement to your amazing artwork. Your gallery wall is fabulous, too! Look forward to seeing what else you do!

  14. Love your decorating style. I’m still experimenting. I would love to have me a Bombay chest! Need to get rid of my sectional and get a more practical space saving couch 🙂

  15. Kelly this is great and I so love all those bottles, the colors are all so gorgeous. Your room looks so good. Can’t wait to see the others.

  16. Oh your living room is gorgeous! All the wonderful light, reflections, and color! So much fun to look at! Can’t wait to see what you do next! I have to find some yellow floats. Mine are all blues, greens and purples. (Like I really need more..lol!)

  17. Kelly I am completely drawn into this room. I love the colored glass…. gorgeous. I love the mixture of furniture styles. And I love the gallery wall. Not sure if you follow Michael at Inspired By Charm but on June 12th he posted his gallery wall inspiration. I am now double inspired.
    xoxo

  18. I love your living room, especially the vases on the fireplace , I snagged a few a decided to keep them. After seeing yours, I want to collect more

  19. I love the gallery wall. Looking at this room, I realized that we have similar taste in color choices…blues, splashes of red and green..the use of warm woods and keeping things light with creams and whites.

    You do color well!
