Fab Friday Finds – You Won’t Believe What $6 Buys!

What does $6 buy nowadays?

6 fly swatters from the Dollar Store,

5 songs for your I-pod,

1 gallon of gas if prices keep rising (hopefully not)!,

1/3 of a tube of Kari’s hand cream,

or

this dresser!

It’s an ugly duckling but I have big plans for her!

See the price still scribbled onto the bird condo?

Sure, $2.92 sounds great.

But Thursday is 25% discount day at the thrift shop!

Oh yeah!

So for the price of a large fry at McDonald’s,

you can throw in this bird condo too – with the cute metal roof!

Wait, you’re thinking (yes, I can read your mind)!

Kelly, didn’t you just get rid of about 10 birdhouses when you cleaned out your scene from Hoarders basement?

Look, if we’re going to be friends, don’t judge!

Can’t wait to share the new and improved dresser!

What’s your best thrift shop steal?

  1. I can’t wait to see what you do with that dresser. $6?!?! I am so jealous. $6 doesn’t even get me a gallon of gas here. I don’t think. They sell gas in liters and charge in guilders and when I multiply by the conversion rate and I’m sure carry the one somewhere I give up and assume gas is, well, to expensive to calculate.

Now I’m thinking your flamingos can now call your bird condo home and your gnomes are the security guards.

  2. Hmmmmm……a dresser……1/3 tube of hand cream…..6 fly swatters. Decisions, decisions. I wonder how much velvet paintings go for. 🙂

Have a great day rock star!

    🙂 me

  3. Kelly,
Thanks for the smile this morning — “didn’t you just get rid of about 10 birdhouses when you cleaned out your scene from Hoarders basement?” I’m NOT judging. Thomas says I drop off a boxes at Good Will and come home with bags.
That dresser! $6.00? I’m surprised you weren’t arrested on your way out for stealing. 😀 I look forward to seeing what you do to it.

  4. Wow! $6?? Amazing!! I guess the thrift stores in my area are now high end places! I cannot find anything quite like that for less than $50! I cannot wait to see how you work your magic on this piece!

  5. Wow that is a great score !!! you are so lucky, our town is full of “antique stores” the only place to really find second hand stuff is at the reuse center but it always seems to be” picked through” if you know what I mean.

  6. Wow, what a great price on the dresser! Looks good and can’t wait to see what you do with it!n Love the birdhouse too!

  7. What an unbelievable deal! I love finding items at great prices, which is difficult in our thrift stores. They want ‘antique’ prices for anything that looks like someone can do something with it. Can’t wait to see what you do with your bargain! And the birdhouse just COULDN”T be left behind at that price, besides you got rid of 10 to make room for it!

  8. I’m late to comment, so I hope by now you are halfway through painting the dresser, cause it’s pretty cute just the way it is so I want to see what you do with it.

  9. $6? Seriously? Hmm, in my world $6 buys 3 Sees Truffles, 3 Diet Pepsis in a bottle, Ice Cream from the Ice Cream truck for twins, and one Decaf Grande Latte, with some change left over.

My best thrift store steal? Today!!!!!! I found the COOLEST chair, cannot wait to reupholster it. It was $25, I got it for $19, and every single person was oooing and ahhhing as I proudly put it in my car. (by the way, it is Brown velvet….)

  10. Are you kidding me??? Six bucks? How in the hello do you get such great deals on furniture, even at the Thrift stores? I find that prices at GW and my local thrift stores have sky rocketed in the last few years. Six dollars is almost as good as free (at least for furniture) in my book! Great score!
Can’t wait to see what you’ll do with it! And I like the bird condo. I won’t judge. I totally get you, since I have the same disease! 🙂

  11. Wow! You STOLE that dresser! It’s going to be incredible after your artistic, creative work. Furniture seems to be my downfall. I am always on the look for some and yet, every tag sale, flea market, thrift shop I visit seems to be “out” of furniture the day I’m there! 🙁
Looking forward to the finished product on your sweet little bird condo!

    1. Oh no – the pressure I’m now under to create something fabulous!! Usually, the furniture is overpriced – so I was surprised to find this fab find! Keep on shopping – you’ll find something when you least expect it!

  12. Great finds! And so encouraging to know that we can still stretch our dollar. I have a dresser that is very similar. So, I can’t wait to see what you do with this one. No doubt it will be fabulous. Love your style!
