Winter White Christmas Mantel

Christmas Mantel Decorating

In the house upon the hill
Hanging on the window sill
Was a little Christmas stocking with a hole in the toe
And when Santa came to call
At the house upon the hill
He saw the Christmas stocking hanging in the candle glow.

Santa chuckled to himself
As he walked across the floor
To the little Christmas stocking with a hole in the toe
And he saw a note was pinned
The the place where it was torn
He read the note then turned his head so teardrops would not show

The note said, “Santa I am just a little boy
And I have everything that could bring me yuletide joy
When you fill my stocking, if it should overflow
I won’t mind if something pushes through the hole in the toe.”

Santa went back to his sled
And he loaded up his pack
Then he went back down the chimney and his heart was oh so glad
And he filled the stocking until no more he could pack
‘Cause the note said, “Please, dear Santa
Could you make the gifts for mom & dad?”

  1. Love the antler laying on the floor in front of the fire like a piece of bleached driftwood. Also like the balance with the white snowflakes above. I appreciate the “sandwich” of nature, glitz and primitive and nature again. Once again, you inspire me.

  2. I think this is my favorite post of yours….ever….well except for that plate πŸ™‚

  7. I just adore your mantel! It reminds me of the one featured in Country Living last year. They used those wooden sock forms as stand in stockings. So cute!! You were lucky to find those. I haven’t seen those anywhere.

  8. Lovely poem and I LOVE your stocking stretchers! I have been on the lookout for some of those since seeing this very idea last year. Was it your blog I saw it on or were you featured in a magazine? I was thinking I saw it in a Christmas mag last year.

  9. I absolutely love how you used the wooden stockings! The simplicity of the fireplace and the mantel is just beautiful. I have never heard that song, either~ precious….

  10. I’m amazed, I have too admit. Sepdom do Iencounter a blog
that’s equally eucative and entertaining, and let me tell you,
you’ve hit the nail on the head. The issue iss sommething which too few
folks are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy
I came across this during my hunt for something relating to this.
