10 Minute Decorating in the Kitchen
Most people stock up on bread and milk before a blizzard.
I stock up on fresh flowers since I knew I’d be trapped under two feet of snow.
Priorities people!
I wonder how many hours of our lives have been spent in front of the kitchen sink?
As I wait patiently for the snow to melt, I can dream of spring while I’m getting dish pan hands.
I’m all about surrounding myself with functional things in the kitchen. But functional doesn’t have to mean boring.
This green cake stand reminds me of vintage jadeite and it’s the perfect way to elevate a favorite plant. Is there anything better than the smell of hyacinth?
Even the lowly paper towel can look fabulous if it’s stored in an old ice bucket.
I love monochromatic flower arrangements and mixed tulips with ranunculus in an old silver champagne bucket.
Hands off my mug. I love keeping my collection of Rae Dunn mugs on display and they make tea time much more fun (especially with my Pug in a Mug tea infuser).
It’s fun making the kitchen a happy place where everyone wants to gather.

Pretty! I adore your tulips and the vase.
Thanks Mary Beth – has me longing for spring!
You’re my kind of girl! When a hurricane is coming I rush to the nursery knowing all the flowers there will be destroyed and buy them out. I keep them in the garage to plant after the storm. ☺️ It’s so barren ugly following the storm and planting colorful flowers is affirming of new growth/life. BTW the link for your blog on some of the other participating blogs is linking elsewhere, not to you.
You’re one smart cookie Pamela! and thanks for the heads up on the links!
Love your flower filled ideas Kelly!! Your ice bucket paper towel holder idea is so chic! Pinned!
This is so pretty, as long as I had wine and flowers, I would be set for the storm 🙂
Kelly I’m with you on the flowers! Who needs bread and milk? It all looks beautiful and I love the containers you used!!
Such a pretty sight on this rainy, gloomy DC day! Haha, I can relate: Tom was grabbing eggs, milk and canned soup while I was picking out tulips 🙂
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all of the beautiful vintage pieces!
Love your styling and your snow philosophy! I have a hard time living without flowers. Such a pretty sink area! I need to use my champagne bucket for flowers!
Yep…I am with you Kelly…before a snow storm, I head to Trader Joe’s to stock up on pretty flowers that keep me smiling during the storm!….then I go to for the eggs and milk…Love your kitchen…it is always a very happy place!
lol! You’ve got to have priorities, right? I love all of your flowers – especially the champagne bucket!
WHERE did you get that tea towel with the bright stripes and flowers? Love it! Want it so bad I need it.
Hi Sandy – I got the towel last year at HomeGoods or Target!
Thanks so much Kelly!
