Country Living House of the Year – Cozy Beach Bungalow Tour
Hurricane Sandy devastated the East Coast …
Including nearly every one of the 2,800 homes in Breezy Point, NY.
Everything needed to be replaced in this 1,000 square foot bungalow …
and it’s been redone with style.
HGTV Designer Emily Henderson designed this happy new space.
The tile is the star of this bathroom but great supporting cast members include casual basket storage for towels, reclaimed wood vanity, double rain shower shower heads and a mirror positioned in front of the window.
The before once the flood damaged interior was gutted …
and the whimsical, beachy after complete with a hammock positioned within arms reach of a vintage bar cart.
Bold color envelopes the bedroom ceiling hat also has a genius solution to hiding an ugly wall air conditioning unit.
Check out the entire Country Living 2013 House of the Year Tour to see more of this happy little beach bungalow …
including a giant shark in the bedroom, a rolling library ladder, and the perfect mix of modern and vintage finds.
Take that Hurricane Sandy!

Thank God Country Living chose Breezy Point to highlight as their House of the Year! As someone who lived on Long Island quite near there, I don’t know if people can understand the devastation that Hurricane Sandy caused this area. Breezy Point in particular suffered tremendously, not only the actual storm, but the resulting fires, it truly looked like Hell on earth. This bungalow is beautiful, bright and hopeful and I my wish is that it inspires the residents of Breezy Point and bring them much hope and healin.
I saw this on Emily Henderson’s site and was HOOKED… the ultimate redemption. 🙂

Love it and what a fun space with cute color.
I’ve been completely obsessed with this house! I keep trying to figure out where I can fit a library ladder into my own home now…
What a wonderful space to go with a wonderful story. I love, love, love to see when the human spirit thrives after a devastating blow. This home gives hope to many … and inspiration to me!
wow…love this house!….
I could move in there in a second, but it would be my private getaway, just don’t tell my family. I am in love with those kitchen stools and I need a rolling library ladder somewhere. Even if it is like the Winchester House and leads to nowhere, I must have one. What a wonderful, cheery home! Sharing at my FB page.
LOVE this!!!!! Thanks for sharing it, can’t wait to click over and see the rest!
