I like the cut-out project and I like the clock. My friend makes United States flags out of pallets, but my absolute favorite is the ice cream bar my daughter made out of two pallets and some plywood. She stained it and polyurethaned it and it is beautiful.

My favorite recent pallet project was one my daughter- in- law did this summer. She turned the pallet on its side, painted it blue, put hooks on the front and made it a pool toy storage area. She put the noodles inside between the slats, hung swim rings on the hooks, and hung a bucket to put the balls and small toys in. I think she did a great job as she doesn’t read blogs or look at mags like I do for inspiration. I would like to win the book for her. My son has access to lots of pallets and they really enjoyed doing this for their two boys!

Favorite upcycling project, wow that is a hard one because I always gravitate more to those than anything. I do have a strange “obsession” with turning bowling balls into yard art, using them like a gazing ball and if the holes are big enough I even plant some small succulents in those to bring it to life, literally! I am now collecting more hoping to get enough to use them as a border for the garden. I think they are so fun!

I also have never worked with wood pallets, but I would have to say my favorite upcycle from a wood pallet would be a monogram letter cut from the wood after the pieces are lined up horizontally and nailed to a strip on the back.

This book looks great! My favorite up-cycling project (at least for the moment) is something I just saw on HGTV. They made bench seating out of chairs, but they actually took the chairs apart to do it. The bottoms were lined up against the wall and spaced accordingly, then a “bench” was attached above. To top it off (no pun intended), they lined up the chair backs above the bottoms to delineate where to sit. Looked really cool!

I love so many upcycle projects. I am about to move and am planning a teacup chandelier for my daughters ‘big-girl room’ and a coffee table from our current kitchen rolling cart. But my favorite upcycle is an end table made by a friend of my grandparents out of wood flooring removed from an old school house. My parents bought it for me during a church auction. It is a fantastic mix of modern styling with repurposed materials.
