Vintage Ceramic Christmas Trees
I’ve been collecting vintage ceramic Christmas trees for a couple of years and love them. These whimsical trees are the centerpiece of my Christmas table this year and I’m thrilled to share my dining room all decked out for St. Nick.

When it comes to ceramic Christmas trees, I don’t discriminate but my prized one is the sleeping mice tree! It’s painted so well (unlike this mouse tree for an outrageous price)!

These ceramic light up trees were popular in the 1960’s and 70’s when ceramic studios were all the rage. Crafty people would paint their own trees (made from molds) then add colorful lights as a finishing touch. They came with a detachable ceramic base with an electrical socket and when plugged in, the colorful plastic bulbs would shine!

Here’s a peek from the table into my living room and my decked out disco mantel!

The little tree with colorful lights was painted by my husbands Aunt! I even have the base for it and the mouse tree but since I don’t have an outlet under my table, I just displayed the tree tops.
TIP: don’t pass up chipped trees, trees that are missing lights or that don’t have a base. You can turn the chipped part away or paint over it, add replacement lights (find ceramic tree lights here), and display it without a base.

Santa mugs with bottle brush tree hair make cute place settings on candy cane striped dish towels on top of my favorite cedar placemats that I use year after year.

Not a creature was stirring, not even Sushi in her striped Christmas jammies!
A lone disco ball on a Santa head planter ties into my over the top disco diva mantel.

I’m a big believer in displaying what you have in different ways from year to year to keep things fresh. Last year, my ceramic trees were on my hearth under my gingerbread house mantel.

Don’t be afraid to mix new and old … this white ceramic tree is new (and I love that it’s battery operated).

I think my ceramic Christmas tree collection needs to grow, don’t you?
I love this! I have 2 that belonged to my boyfriend’s aunt and I love them! Sushi looks precious and I love how you set up your table! So nice as
always Kelly!
You’re lucky to have those two old trees with sentimental value!
I love any size house at Christmas, I have several trees, one I made in ceramics 40+ years ago that is 18 ” and another I inherited. Your Santa cups have inspired me to haunt the thrift stores for them. You inspire me! Love your home in every season. I look forward to all your content (inspiration) wish there were more! Merry Christmas to YOU and YOURS!
How fun that you still have the tree you made Rhonda! I have a collection of vintage Santa mugs but can you believe these on my table are new! It’s fun to mix when you can’t find the old stuff.
Your table looks so Christmasy, love those ceramic trees. When my mom died and dad lived by himself, he didn’t want a Christmas tree so I bought him a ceramic one and set it up for him on top of his TV. Sushi’s pj’s look so cute.
That’s such a good idea Marlene for your dad!
I have a ceramic Christmas tree my grandmother painted in the 1970s. She attached the base with a green substance that has now hardened. I can’t figure out how to remove the base to change the bulb inside. Have you had a similar situation?
Oh no Nikki! I have never seen that before on a ceramic Christmas tree.
