2023 Christmas Mantel – Disco the Night Away!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s time to unveil my Christmas mantel in all it’s retro, whimsical, colorful, fun, shiny, bright, disco glory! See how I decked my mantel with dozens of disco balls, mixed in some vintage Shiny Brites, added a few little wooden houses and ceramic trees to create a truly one-of-a-kind disco Christmas mantel!

I made a quick little video showing off my mantel and tree below …

Did you notice the twinkling Christmas tree lights on my tree in the video? I added LED lights that have eight settings from steady to various twinkle and flashing modes and they look so much better than typical string lights. Note: I used four sets of lights on my 8 foot tree.

Every year, I try to outdo myself (can you believe this is my 13th Christmas mantel on this blog?) and come up with something unique. I’m happy to report that I just got a text from Mrs. Claus and she told me that I accomplished my mission!

This disco wreath makes me so happy! It took less than an hour to make and I know I’ll get tons of use out of it (I plan to use it for different holidays).

DIY Disco Ball Wreath Instructions

I always start Christmas decorating with my mantel and once I decided to make the disco wreath, the rest of the mantel snowballed from there. It’s a fact that more of a good thing (especially disco balls) is an even better thing!

The way the disco balls reflect the sunlight, candlelight and my favorite battery operated fairy lights strung on my most realistic looking garland is so cool! Note: I found the best priced garland here. The little vintage flocked Santa is the perfect finishing touch.

Can you believe I got all of the huge disco balls on the hearth on my town’s free stuff Facebook page!

Tip: stuff your stockings (I used paper towels) with something to give them a full look.

What would my house be without vintage Shiny Brite ornaments! I especially love the small ones to hang on my feather trees.

These wood houses are candles and have a glass mercury glass insert. I just pop the roofs off when I want to light them.

Who needs cookies and milk on a plate when you can pile a collection of vintage Santa mugs (and one Santa pitcher) onto an antique ironstone platter.

This is certainly the most wonderful time of the year. It’s when my little elf Sushi, dons her Christmas sweater and humors me while I take 3,000 pics of her.

I have an embarrassing confession to make … I bought the matching pink Santa sweater for myself so Sushi and I can be twins!

Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is the intervention that I clearly need now that I am dressing like my dog.

  1. This decor was unexpected but fun and I got a kick out of Sushi in the sweater and your confession of ordering one for yourself! It’s nice to see your playful spirit in this oftentimes heavy world 😁

  2. So, so pretty and fun! You did a fantastic job of decorating this year. Sushi should be happy since you bought a sweater like hers but, she looked like she was just being patient with you. Have a very Merry Christmas.

  3. This is one of my favorite mantels of all the ones you’ve done over the years! What fun! Retro and new all at the same time! I opened my December copy of BHG the other day, and I saw your dining room; I said to myself, “I know that room.” Ha! Merry Christmas!

  4. I always look forward to your Christmas mantel. You have the best ideas and it’s always so playful and quirky- my style! You outdid yourself this year. As a mom to 4 pugs I love to see Sushi in your photos!
