Kelly’s Stamp of Approval 12
I can’t believe it’s been three months since I started this series. It’s been getting such positive feedback and I’m happy to add a more personal touch with a look into what’s going on in my life. In today’s Kelly’s Stamp of Approval 12, I’ll take you into New York city after the holiday madness died down (and the coolest, interactive art installation I’ve ever seen), we’ll tour one of my all time favorite cottages, travel down to New Orleans (I’ve been six times in less than 2 years), update my weight loss attempts and much more.
I’m lucky to live a short train ride from Manhattan and my family went in for a tapas dinner the other night. We passed these giant, glow in the dark teeter totters! I don’t think I’ve ever seen adults having so much kid-like fun!
We checked out the skaters at the Bryant Park ice rink. It is so nice to go into the city when it’s not crowded! I highly recommend taking in the Christmas sights after the holidays and on a weeknight.
I’ve been featuring the best Eclectic Home Tours since I started blogging over eight years ago so I thought it would be fun to feature an oldie but a goodie here every week. This is one of my favorites of all time!

I’m all about experiences over things so I booked a trip to New Orleans with my hubby and sister to celebrate my birthday in March! This will be my sixth time visiting New Orleans in the past couple of years because my daughter goes to school there so I’m excited to celebrate with her too! It will be the first time I’ll be staying in an Airbnb instead of a hotel too.
Best of New Orleans
Remember my friend Lisa’s house that I helped slow decorate? Well, she moved into a new house and I’m helping her once again. She texted me three pics of lamps she saw the other day and I had to be blunt and tell her oh hell no! They lacked any and all personality so I found these fun blue lamps and will bring them over soon to see if they work in her space.
One of my girls is transferring to a new college this month so we went on a little shopping spree for new bedding (she’s thrilled to have a full bed instead of a tiny little twin that she slept on at her last school) and accessories to make her room homey. She will be in an apartment shared with three other kids but she has her own room and shares a bathroom with only one other girl.
We shopped this bedding and bath sale plus got an extra 15% off with code HOME.
My nest will be empty again in a couple of weeks but at least I have Sushi and my plants to take care of!
Weight Loss Saga
I told you last week that I downloaded the WW app to try and diminish the excess junk in my trunk. The first week, I logged every day and stuck to my assigned number of points but I have to admit I’ve been slipping and need to get back into the right mindset.
Pounds down this week – 2.2 / Total pounds lost in 10 days – 3.8
In case you missed my posts this week …
I have some fun posts planned for this week so stay tuned!
