Kelly’s Stamp of Approval

This week in Kelly’s Stamp of Approval 15, I’m sharing my serious winter rut and my favorite tv shows, a movie that wasted my time and a great read to help get me through. I’ll share my latest bargain find for a friends wine cave, a cute dress I couldn’t resist and an update on the saga of Sushi’s anal glands and more.

It’s 02/02/2020 today! Read that number backwards!

It’s finally February but I’ve still got the January blues people. Does that happen to you? I literally just want to hibernate and eat all the carbs and binge watch tv shows! I’m afraid I’m going to put a permanent Kelly shaped indentation in my sofa!

Will you be watching the Super Bowl? I’m only in it for the snacks and how fun is this football themed snack board!

Binge Worthy

Speaking of tv, I’ll never get back the hour and 44 minutes of my life that I wasted watching Hustlers! Why was there an uproar that J Lo wasn’t nominated for an Oscar … the movie was beyond bad and I think my hubby is still holding a grudge because I chose it!

What if Germany won World War II? The Man in the High Castle is on my binge worthy list and shows what the world might look like had the outcome of World War II turned out differently. I’m almost halfway through this four season series.

For some reason, I like to watch dark movies so I couldn’t resist watching We Need to Talk About Kevin on Amazon Prime. This shows that the unthinkable can happen when a mother doesn’t bond with her baby and questions the importance of nature vs nurture and whether someone can be born evil.

On My Bookshelf

Just so you know, I don’t spend ever waking hour watching tv, I actually just finished a book I really liked called Ask Again, Yes. I must be drawn to stories of family dysfunction for some reason and this one has plenty!

Bargain Find

Facebook Marketplace for the win again! I am helping my friends furnish their wine cave on the cheap so when I spotted this sectional sofa for only $50 I jumped on it! Facebook etiquette says the person needs to honor the original price but when tons of other people expressed interest, she raised the price to $100! Still a bargain so my friend went and picked it up. I’ve found lots of great stuff for myself and friends on Facebook not to mention I’ve made money selling my cast offs!

In The Closet

I’m trying to will spring to come early so I ordered this cute tunic dress so I’m ready when the weather changes.

Get a dog they said. It will be fun they said. I’m still not fully recovered from Sushi’s anal gland bursting in the middle of the night! Luckily, the gross stuff that popped out was contained to her bed! You’d never know anything was wrong because she’s acting like her usual, happy go lucky self. I, on the other hand, lost my child-like innocence that day!

I read that her condition may be caused by a lack of fiber (don’t make me go into the gory details) so I started adding some pumpkin puree to her dinner and she LOVES it.

Last week, I mentioned that I was going to throw a party but I had to cancel it because my hubby hurt his back! His MRI says it’s a sprain but he also has a bulging disc so he’s going to start physical therapy. I told him there’s only room in this family for one invalid and that person is me (remember my two back surgeries last summer). He’s already trying to get out of his grocery shopping responsibilities! This isn’t looking good … for me!

Only 46 days til spring … but who’s counting?

  1. I’m so ready for Spring too! That dress looks so cute. I’d pair it with cowboy boots! I’ll watch the Superbowl for the commercials and halftime show. Enjoy your Sunday!

  2. What a deal on that sectional! Sushi’s issues sound frightening! Sorry about your husbands back issues. Since he can’t do shopping duties….get them delivered 😁. Whole Foods + Amazon primeI= Free! I haven’t used any grocery delivery yet but so many of my friends use it weekly.

  3. Yes, I loved We Need to Talk About Kevin! I have been a fan of Tilda Swinton since. I like a dark drama at times. Recently, we have been binge watching Longmire and if you can get it DCI Banks it is a great British Detective movie. My husband is open to more than just sports, I am happy about that. Happy Super Bowl, hope it’s a fun day…

  4. Oh we could be besties!!! This post had me both laughing and shaking my head, saying “Me too!!!” I’m on the central coast of California, so no snow and all that, nevertheless, Jan is my least favorite month ever and yesterday I announced to my daughter, “Yay, I made it through January and I’m okay😂” And just so you know you’re not alone, I too have pet issues. Uuuggghhh, my cat has decided to start spraying inside the house. My beautiful, custom made drapes have been her target😩. I want to check out the book you mentioned – sounds like something I’d like . Love reading your posts, think this is the first time I’ve commented, although I always comment in my head 😂.
