Alpine Village Christmas Tree – Christmas in July

Is there ever a wrong time to celebrate Christmas? Since I’m on the hunt for Christmas decorations 365 days a year, I thought it would be fun to celebrate Christmas in July and try out a completely new and unique way to decorate my tree. My Alpine Village Christmas Tree turned out even better than I envisioned! Plus, I’m sharing a little history about the origins of Christmas in July!

I’ve partnered with King of Christmas on this very festive Christmas in July post!

My girls went to summer camp in Brevard, North Carolina, so when I discovered that Christmas in July started there, I had to know more!

How Did Christmas in July Begin?

In 1933, Fannie Holt, the founder of Keystone Camp in Brevard, North Carolina, thought it would be fun to bring some Christmas magic to campers in the heat of the summer. She decked and trimmed the camp and added elves, a Santa Claus, gifts, pillowcase “stockings”, and cotton “snow”. The festive tradition continues at the camp to this day.

From their, the idea of Christmas in July, or Half Christmas as some people call it, spread to other parts of the world.

Even Hallmark got in on the act and you can catch marathon sessions of Christmas movies during the month of July!

My Alpine Village Christmas in July Tree!

Last year, I loved decking my pair of King of Christmas flocked Noble Fir trees in my dining room with my collection of over 1,000 vintage ornaments.

I love my twin Christmas trees so much, I got the same on, minus the flocking, to create my Alpine Village Tree.

The sparse branches are perfect for showing off ornaments, but I realized that the large spaces between the branches also make the perfect place for displaying my collection of hand-painted little Christmas houses!

Tucked into the branches, they create a whimsical little alpine village.

I’m all about making my life easier, especially around the hectic holiday season which is why I love these pre-lit LED trees. They are a cinch to put together and with a little bit of fluffing, they are so realistic!
